No Church in the Wild by Kanye West and Jay Z, Featuring Frank Ocean and The dream is my anthem at the moment. I would say I’m a very controversial person. I enjoy the odd debate about philosophy and the theories of our world. They intrigue me, I have always been into the way things work and how the human perceives them. I've written a lot about my views on atheism. I am an atheist, I don`t believe a God exists. I’ve gotten in a lot of trouble before with my public writings of atheism; I did get kicked out of Oxford in my first year. My father tried to get me back in, I was allowed to on one condition, signing a contract declaring my Christianity. I refused. I refuse to speak about something I do not believe in. Kanye and Jay Z really capture that tone in this song. They do not only state the wreckage that monogamy does to love, but they also talk about no religion in the wild. By this they mean the real world. It is really you out there alone, you have to be your own high power. My good friend and I--highly renowned thinker/ philosopher, William Godwin-- have discussions constantly about these kinds of issues. This song touches the topics of the power system, a system made up by believe to control the people. When people believe something, it becomes to be. There are no rules that say that a king is not the same as you, or a God is more than a king. Sure the King may be richer, may have a nicer estate but are you not the same species? Don’t you both shed the same colour blood? A king Is like a God in some way, they are worshiped, they are treated as if they are higher. The people make up these rules. I love how the song mentions the hierarchy. I like the central themes and concepts of this song. Kanye and Jay Z mention that monogamy is ruining love and I am completely sure about that. I have had multiple loves in the course of my life. I loved more than one girl at once. I lost my children because of my “free love”. I think life is meant isn’t meant to be monogamous, whoever you love, you love. Kanye really hits that concept in his verse. Love really is cursed by monogamy. You could be missing out on the love of your life, your soul mate, all because of an imaginary pair of handcuffs that are attached between you and your significant other. I didn't live that life, I chose to experiment and fell deeply in love with more than one women. The lyrics just speak to the voice in my mind, it’s the words I want to say but don’t. Last but not least, who doesn’t love a Kanye and Jay Z collaboration, this song is always on repeat.

FIGURATIVE DEVICE:
This song uses a lot of Rhetorical questions "Whats a mob to a king?" "Whats a king to a God?" "Whats a God to a non-believer?" This questions aren't made to be answered, they are made for further emphasis on the theme. In this particular case it would be the hierarchy. This is a smart device because it gets the people thinking, it opens up the mind to perceiving things differently. Also check out-Dance with the Devil by Immortal Technique ArchivesCategories |
